Our Founder's Story

The Scholarship Whizz was born out of a struggle that millions of students around the world face—the frustration, rejection, and exhaustion of trying to secure funding for higher education.

For our founder, Dr. Bolanle, this challenge was deeply personal. As an ambitious African woman with dreams of studying internationally, she encountered rejection after rejection, navigating the complex scholarship process alone. But she refused to give up.

After months of relentless research, refining countless essays, and applying for every opportunity she could find, she secured $420,000 in scholarships—a life-changing achievement that earned her a place at a top-ranked university in the United States for her PhD. This opportunity transformed her future, leading her to a senior leadership role at one of Canada’s top telecommunications companies.

Her journey is proof that scholarships can change lives—and now, she’s on a mission to help others do the same.

FAQs - Accordion Style
Can I get a scholarship with a second-class lower or third-class grade?
Yes, it’s possible. While most scholarships are competitive, there are opportunities designed for applicants with diverse academic backgrounds and experience.
Will a scholarship cover my dependent(s)?
In rare cases, some scholarship programs may offer support for dependents, but this is not standard and depends on the specific scholarship and host country. As an international student, if relocating with your dependents is important, consider applying to countries that permit students to bring their families, as this varies by destination and scholarship policy.
Does having a first-class degree guarantee a scholarship?
Not automatically. While a strong academic record is valuable, scholarship success also depends on how well you position yourself through compelling applications, strong personal statements, and relevant experience.
Can I apply for a bachelor’s degree abroad with just my high school leaving certificate?
In most cases, you will need additional standardized test scores such as the SAT (especially for the U.S.) alongside your final high school certificate. Examples of accepted certificates include WAEC, NECO, IGCSE, or their equivalents depending on your country of origin and the institution’s admission requirements.
Are there scholarships available for athletes?
Yes. Some institutions offer specific scholarship packages for athletes and veterans based on talent, performance, and eligibility.
Can I apply for a PhD without a master’s degree?
Absolutely. Several universities, especially in the U.S., accept outstanding candidates with only a bachelor’s degree directly into PhD programs.
Can I apply for a postgraduate program outside my undergraduate field?
Yes, you can—especially if the fields are related or the postgraduate program accepts candidates from various academic backgrounds.
Do I need to apply for admission before applying for a scholarship?
It depends on the scholarship. Some require an admission offer before applying, especially those tied to specific institutions, while others are independent and can be applied for separately.
Are there age restrictions for scholarships?
Generally, no. Most scholarships are open to applicants of all ages, provided other eligibility criteria are met.
Can The Scholarship Whizz handle my entire scholarship application process?
We guide you through the process with strategies, document review, and expert support, but your active participation is essential to your success.
Can undergraduates join your coaching program?
Yes, our coaching services cater to both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants.
When is the best time to apply for scholarships?
As soon as applications open. Early applications often receive earlier decisions and reflect better planning and readiness.
Will you write my scholarship essays for me?
We do not write essays on your behalf. However, we guide you through the essay-writing process by providing winning templates, expert resources, and personalized feedback. Through our expert review service, we help you refine your drafts to ensure they are compelling, authentic, and aligned with scholarship expectations.
Which coaching option is better, group or one-on-one?
Both are effective. However, our one-on-one coaching provides personalized, hands-on support tailored to your goals from start to finish.
Will I definitely get a scholarship if I join the coaching program?
While we cannot guarantee a scholarship, our coaching program offers structured handholding to improve your chances of success. We work closely with you to build strong applications, provide expert guidance, and boost your confidence in applying for multiple opportunities. You'll gain access to curated scholarship listings, personalized strategy sessions, and an active accountability group for ongoing support.
Do you partner with scholarship bodies or universities?
Not at the moment. All our client successes are based on well-prepared, competitive applications and individual merit.
Do you provide visa preparation support?
Yes, one-on-one coaching clients receive support with visa interview preparation, including common questions and helpful tips.
Can you advise on the best country or province to study?
Yes. We help you evaluate countries based on factors such as academic environment, post-graduation opportunities, course relevance, and available resources.
Is securing a scholarship difficult?
Not necessarily. With the right strategy, guidance, and consistency, the process becomes more manageable and significantly more rewarding.
